Welcome to the What Documentation Is Page

Despite the collective groan that often follows the mention of documentation, I’ve always found myself drawn to it. Where others see tedious instructions or endless pages of notes, I see something powerful—an open door to learning, growth, and clarity.

Documentation, to me, isn’t confined to manuals or technical guides; it’s woven into the fabric of our everyday lives. It’s in the text messages we send, capturing moments and conversations. It’s in the songs and lyrics we listen to, preserving emotion and storytelling. It’s even in the medical records we depend on, quietly safeguarding our well-being.

Documentation is more than just information—it’s the way we share knowledge, history, opinions, understand each other, and grow. Over 10 years, regardless of what job I've had, I've always documented to learn and be able to pass that learning onto others.

My string of posts about documentation is designed to help others see the value that is all around them and how they can use it to see others and the world in a deeper way.
